Her self-composed monologues are witty and Unique. Monolisa skillfully creates a range of characters using Pitch, Pace and Power in a masterful way to bring alive believable, loveable characters.

About Two Cantankerous Caribbean Characters In A Long Running, Love Hate Battle. Enus and Rose Friendship Goes Right Back To Growing Up On The Sunshine Island Of Jamaica. Now Settled In England And Among The First Generation Of West Indian Elders - Will Enus Ever Manage To Woo Rose, The Love Of His Life, With His Sweet-Talk And Dirty Wellington Boots? A humorous One-Woman Sketch Show.
How It All Started
I started telling these short stories, after many visits to my West Indian grandmothers house, while still at primary school. Then with a little encouragement from teaches and family I started to write my sketches down. I wasn’t very popular at school. I was a very shy and quite girl with not enough confidence to make conversation at times - (don’t laugh, it’s true) So when I was asked to perform one of my stories for the special event for all the leavers in my year and their parents it was a huge challenge.
With support from my family I bravely took the stage and funny enough, when it came to it, I wasn’t at all nervous. As soon as I got up there the characters just took over so I hid behind them. The laughs the claps the cheers and the standing in ovation I received was a real confidence boost.
Mum and I were even invited back to sit and have tea and biscuits with the teaches, a gesture mum wasn’t at all comfortable with, me either for that matter. Mum chucked every excuse but as ‘no’ wouldn’t be taken for an answer we sat there bolt up right and stoned faced trying not to spill the tea into the saucer. That was the longest 20 minutes of my life.
I would be asked to perform at family get-to-gathers which was real fun because people could really identify with what I was saying.
My best friends parents use to really love listening to the same stories over and over again. They would have invites to many dinner parties around Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. At their request and that of others I would be asked to accompany them so that they could enjoy a story or two after dinner.
Gradually I gained more experience playing to different audiences. It will always remain an important factor that my work /stories are understood and enjoyed by people of all ages and cultures.
